Tall outdoor planters built to elevate your space
Tall outdoor planters bring life, height, and presence to gardens, terraces, and courtyards. They shape vertical interest, frame views, and allow you to work with scale — whether you are planting climbers, tall shrubs, or slender trees. At Bergs Potter, our tall planter pots are crafted to stand strong in weather, hold root depth, and age gracefully with the seasons.

Tall outdoor planters made for strength and stability
Tall planters place demands: depth for roots, structural integrity, and balanced drainage. Our designs are made with these needs in mind. The clay walls are thick where needed, drainage is built in, and proportions are calibrated so that, even when tall, the planter remains stable. Use of pot feet is recommended to lift the base, improve airflow, and protect from frost.
One of our standout options is the Large Flora tall planter, which carries the Flora collection’s graceful curves into vertical form. With diameters between 50 cm and 70 cm, it makes an elegant focal statement while offering generous soil depth.
Another option is Campana, our most monumental range built for outdoor scale. With maximum diameters up to 105 cm, Campana’s bell‑shape structure supports tall plantings and stands resilient even to harsh seasonal conditions.
While these are among our tallest outdoor styles, many of our other collections (e.g. Københavner) also offer tall versions, blending heritage and height for both classic and modern outdoor arrangements.

Materials that support outdoor life
Like our other planters, tall outdoor versions are made from high-quality terracotta, Galestro clay from Tuscany. Carefully fired to withstand the elements, the clay gains strength and frost tolerance — essential for year-round outdoor use. The natural porosity also helps roots breathe and soil stay balanced, even in deeper pots.
For tall models intended for interior settings, a sealed saucer or waterproof base may be included or optionally available depending on the collection — making indoor watering simple and clean.
This careful attention to materials makes our tall outdoor planters a long-term investment in both form and function.
Styling with height and context
Tall outdoor planters are architectural by nature — they frame doorways, flank steps, or bring emphasis to corners. Use them to:
- Anchor a pathway or entrance
- Create vertical layering in garden beds
- Stage potted trees or columnar species
- Separate zones on a terrace or rooftop
When planting, combine with lower garden planters in front to soften the base and enhance the layered look. Though designed for vertical presence, these pots complement all types of outdoor areas — and can easily transition indoors when styled thoughtfully.
Care tips to keep your tall outdoor planters thriving
Because tall planters hold more soil and moisture, a few simple steps go a long way:
- Always lift the pot on feet or risers to improve drainage.
- Keep drainage holes clear to avoid standing water.
- Before frost, tip out excess water and, if possible, shelter the pot from heavy rain during winter.
Over time, the terracotta surface will age with grace, developing a natural patina that reflects its life outdoors. With proper placement and care, your tall planter can thrive for many years — supporting healthy roots, upright growth, and striking garden design.
