Glazed Ceramics – Colour & Character
Our glazed ceramics are made from a smooth clay body and fired from around 1020°C. During firing, the glaze melts and bonds with the ceramic surface, creating a durable finish with rich colour, depth and a refined surface.
The combination of the smooth clay body and glaze gives the pieces their distinctive expression.
Glazed Stoneware – Strength & Durability
Our stoneware is fired at higher temperatures, up to around 1200°C. At these temperatures, the clay body vitrifies, becoming exceptionally dense and strong, while the glaze becomes closely integrated with the ceramic surface.
The result is a highly durable material with a refined glazed finish, particularly well suited to designs where strength and robustness are important.
How Glaze Creates Colour & Depth
During firing, glaze reacts with the ceramic body and the conditions inside the kiln, influencing how colour and surface develop.
Around reliefs, edges and other details, glaze may gather differently, creating deeper tones and bringing out the shape and character of the design.
Natural Variations in Glazed Ceramics
The ceramic body, glaze and firing process all play a part in the final result, creating subtle variations in colour, pigmentation, depth and surface.
Small droplets, pinholes or air bubbles may occur, while the distribution and intensity of the glaze can vary across a piece. These variations tell something about the materials and processes involved in making the product and are part of the expression of our glazed ceramics and stoneware. They do not affect the quality or function of the product.
How to Clean & Care for Glazed Ceramics
Our glazed ceramics and stoneware are intended for indoor use and should not be used outdoors.
Clean with water and a mild dish soap when needed, using a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid abrasive cleaning products or scouring pads that may scratch the glazed surface.
