The raw clay pots by Bergs Potter are made of premium Italian clay, fired at extremely high temperatures — and nothing else. No chemicals — just the pure beauty of nature. Each of the raw terracotta pots is inherently natural, ages gracefully, and develops a beautiful patina over time. The saucers are given a special finish that makes them waterproof and prevents mould from developing. Whether they are used as a centrepiece for the dining table, to grace the window sill, or to house a large plant on your wooden floors, the beautiful pots will help add a touch of nature to every corner of the home.

Made to live for generations

Bergs Originals are Bergs Potter’s popular, raw terracotta pots in timeless designs, all made to last for generations. Our roots run deep, and it all began during one of the bleakest periods of World War II. Our founder, Victor Berg, inherited a ceramics shop in the Nørrebro district of Copenhagen and built Bergs Potter to fulfil his dream of bringing a little more life and colour into the war-depressed lives of his fellow Copenhageners. A lot has happened since 1942, but one thing remains the same…

Breathing pots

Bergs Potter’s terracotta pots are made with Italy’s finest clay. The minerals in the clay and its high density give the pots the perfect balance of strength and porosity, allowing the pots to breathe and making them naturally resistant to frost. When a pot is watered, it changes colour, which means it breathes. When the pot breathes, it can supply moisture and air to the roots, giving the plant the best possible conditions for growth.

Terracotta is a porous material, and the evaporation of water through its pores helps maintain moisture levels and airflow, while the clay’s insulating properties help regulate root temperature.

Bergs Potter’s designs are rooted in timeless traditions and evoke heirloom qualities by paying homage to the past and embracing the Scandinavian design legacy. The inspiration comes from a variety of people and places, including royal role models, French flea market finds, botanical knowledge, and sleek Scandinavian silhouettes, all combined with the Danish tradition of timeless and classic compositions. Every single one of Bergs Potter’s designs has a unique story to tell and is made to live for generations.

‘Glazed by Bergs’ is a vibrant range of indoor pots and vases. Bergs Potter was founded out of a desire to brighten the lives of Copenhageners during the dark period of WWII. Today, we still remain devoted to the life-affirming colours embodied by the beautiful, glazed collections of pots and vases. With an unparalleled fullness of colour, the solid and sumptuous glazing enhances the richness and vibrancy of the timeless shades, adding character to signature pots and vases.

Bergs Potter offers pots in numerous sizes. Our series of large outdoor pots are fired at extremely high temperatures, which gives the pots a unique and natural durability. Thanks to the high quality of our unglazed terracotta, Bergs Potter’s pots are naturally resilient to frost. If properly taken care of, they can endure many winters outside in the cold and can be passed down from generation to generation. Each pot is a unique work of art, ranging from the simplicity of the Scandinavian design to the classic vibes of Tuscany.
